Thinking about Thinking

The truth is that we as human beings are different from animals because we can think. Every moment of our life involves conscious and sub-conscious thinking. We live by thinking, and we think by living.

I have read several books and articles on different kinds of thinking; from strategic thinking to creative thinking. The summary of it all is that whatever anyone achieves in life is a result of what and how s/he thinks. In other words, our success depends on what we think about, and how we actually think.

When you read books such as, How to Think Like Sherlock Holmes, Deductive Logic, How to Think Like Leonardo da Vinci, Tools of Critical Thinking, Thinking Strategically, Thinking Creatively, How to Think Critically, The Art of Thinking etc., you would discover that everything about us has to do with thinking.

It is what separates one man from the other.

It is what makes one man a champion and the other man a coward.

It is by thinking that we find solutions to our issues. It is by thinking that we gain confidence. And it is by thinking that we create value. If you need a solution or an answer but you’re not getting it, it must be that your thinking is not enough. Think deeply. You can also ask others to join you in doing the thinking; that’s what we call brainstorming. For sure, the answer will come.

Well, the other side of the coin is that some people actually think hard, but they think negatively. That is to say that thinking could be productive or destructive. Positive thinking builds; negative thinking destroys.

Of all the books I’ve ever read about thinking (and the list is quite long), the one I’m currently reading stands out. While it is not my intention to market the book for the authors (who I don’t even know), I can’t help but commend them for a great job well done. Here is a wonderful 230-page book titled “How to Think Strategically – Your Roadmap to Innovation and Results”, written by Davide Sola & Jerome Couturier. This book equips readers with skills needed to make the best decisions and develop a powerful strategic mindset – both in personal and business life.

Thinking holds the key to greatness.
